Description

Inspired by original "paddy wagons" of the late 1800s this Child Catcher's Cart was built to commission for "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang". The brief was to capture the menace and brutality of the real thing, be easily transportable, light, durable and manoeuvrable for ease of use on stage. Research provided the premise and materials chosen created the look. The base carriage, running gear and springs are all welded light-weight metal and the superstructure, including the bars are all of wooden construction. The two are separable with four simple to access bolts. The pictures are of it bare, as the client wanted to put the finish to it himself.
